متن کاملAdding Extra Input/Output Modalities to a Spoken Dialogue System
This paper describes a prototype of a multimodal railway information system that was built by extending an existing speech-only system. The purpose of the extensions is to alleviate a number of shortcomings of speech-only interfaces.
متن کاملMultimodal Scanning Input with Non-speech Sounds
This paper proposes the addition of non-speech sounds to aid people who use scanning as their method of input. Scanning input is a temporal task; users have to press a switch when a cursor is over the required target. However, it is usually presented as a spatial task with the items to be scanned laid-out in a grid. Research has shown that for temporal tasks the auditory modality is often bette...
متن کاملMultimodal Dialogue Systems: A Case Study for Interactive TV
Many studies have already shown the advantages of building multimodal systems. In this case study we have shown the advantages of combining natural language and a graphical interface in the interactive TV domain. In this paper we describe a multimodal dialogue TV program guide system that is a research prototype built for the case study by adding speech interaction to an already existing TV pro...
متن کاملA Multimodal Dialogue System for Air Traffic Control Trainees Based on Discrete-Event Simulation
In this paper we present a multimodal dialogue system designed as a learning tool for air traffic control officer trainees (ATCO). It was developed using our discrete-event simulation dialogue management framework with cloud-based speech recognition and text-to-speech systems. Our system mimics pilots in an air traffic communication, allowing the ATCOs to practice a control of a virtual airspac...
